Meaning and Origin of the Names: Edds/Eades

At the moment we don't have a lot of background information.  Please forward anything you have to submit@edds.org

About the furtest record we have  is of Joseph Edds/Eades, born 1724, of Campbell County Virgnia but we don't have extensive records of his descendents.  I don't know much about the family.

The Eades I have the most on is Carole Eades family in Muhlenburg County, Kentucky.  They were there in about 1820 for sure.

The Edds that I descend from, Bartlett Edds, probably branched off of the Carole Eades family and changed the spelling of their name about 1820.

I have always been told that the name was Welsh or Irish, but I have nothing to back that up but my fathers feeling.
